Onam celebration was held at St Aloysius ITI on September 17.
The programme commenced with a prayer song which was led by MMV 2nd year students. Navyalaxmi lady vice-president, student council elaborated on the significance of Onam.
The chief guest for the programme was V Ajikumar leadership trainer for social and entrepreneurship skills. Roshan D’Souza, principal, Alwyn Menezes vice-principal, Noel Lobo and Wilson N – training officers, Darshan, president students council were also present.
Darshan, president of tudents council escorted the dignitaries to the dais.
Abhishek, student of electrician 2nd year extended a cordial welcome to the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries.
Chief guest V Ajikumar addressed the gathering by saying, “Onam is not just a festival; it is a celebration of unity, prosperity, and the cultural heritage of Kerala. It reminds us of the golden reign of King Mahabali, where equality, joy, and harmony prevailed, inspiring us to uphold these values in our own lives. Onam brings together people of all communities, transcending barriers of caste, creed, and religion. It is a time to reflect on the values of love, kindness, and generosity.”
On the occasion of Onam drawing and Rangoli competition was held. The prize winners of the competition are as follows:

3rd prize – Ummar Faruk, MRAC 2

2nd prize – Electrician 2nd year trade

The students entertained the audience by their dance performances.
Addressing the gathering, Roshan D’Souza said, “Onam is also a time for reflection. It teaches us to look beyond differences and come together as one family, to share joy and extend our help to those in need. The Pookkalams (floral designs) symbolise the beauty of diversity and the spirit of community. The essence of any harvest festival lies in the spirit of togetherness. Sharing our joy with others not only enriches our own lives but also strengthens the bonds within our community. May this harvest season bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to all. Let us cherish these moments of celebration and continue to nurture a sense of unity, respect for nature, and gratitude in our lives.”
Noel Dsa, a student of electrician 2nd year proposed the vote of thanks.
