Deepavali Celebration

Festival of lights ‘Deepavali’ was celebrated in St Aloysius ITI on 15th November, 2018. The celebration began with a prayer service by students lead by Mr Wilson N- Junior training officer. On the previous day, a drawing competition was held for the students on the theme ‘My Deepavali Celebration’. Welcome speech was delivered by Rolson Fredrik- a student of MMV trade. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr Y.N. Salian- Principal, M.R.P. ITI, Mulki. Joel Mathias –a student presented a speech on significance of Deepavali celebration. Student representatives along with the staff members lighted diyas kept around the beautiful rangoli. Mr Vincent Mendonsa- Principal introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Mr Y.N. Salian said, “This institution is a prestigious institute not only in Dakshina Kannada, but in whole state of Karnataka. Deepavali is celebrated worldwide by all people irrespective of religion. Deepvali inspires us to move from darkness to light. The light should shine in our hearts. We should fill light in other’s life by extending them a helping hand whenever needed.” The Chief Guest was felicitated during the programme. Certificates were distributed to Rovers who had attended National level Rover ranger camp at Bengaluru. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Deepvali drawing competition. Winners of the drawing competition were- Mr Lester Christy-1st place, Mr Shreyas Amin-2nd place and Mr Sampath- 3rd place. Delivering the Presidential address, Rev Fr Melvin Lobo SJ- Director of the institution said, “I congratulate you for organising this celebration so beautifully. Deepavali festival brings happiness. No one likes to stay in darkeness, we want to go where there is light. Darkness also symbolises evil. This festival inspires us to remove evils like bad habits, addictions from our life. When there is darkness, two responses can be given. One is to criticize the darkness and the other on is to light the candle. Let us be the persons who prefer to light the candle instead of criticising.” Deepavali quiz was conducted during the programme by Mahammad – a student of MMV trade. Cultural programme was presented by the students. Salman B- a student proposed vote of thanks. Mr Alwyn Menezes- Vice Principal and Mr Raghavendra-convener of the programme were present on the dais. Mohammad- a student of MMV trade compeered the programme. The programme was concluded by National Anthem.
