Blood Donation Camp Held at St Aloysius ITI in Partnership with Lions Club and KMC Hospital

St. Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Mangaluru successfully organized a blood donation camp on May 26th in collaboration with the Lions Club, Amtoor, and KMC Hospital. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and faculty members, with 63 donors contributing to this noble cause.

The program began with a prayer service led by students from the Electronics Mechanic department, followed by a warm welcome address by Principal Roshan D’Souza. The chief guest, Edwin Noronha, president of Lions Club Amtoor, inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. In his speech, Noronha emphasized the importance of blood donation, sharing his personal experience of donating blood twice a year for the past seven years. He encouraged students to cultivate the habit of donating blood early in life to make a lasting impact on society.

Dr. Dhruv from KMC Hospital highlighted the critical need for blood donations, stating that there is no substitute for human blood. He praised the students for their willingness to donate and explained how blood donation not only saves lives but also promotes the donor’s health by stimulating new blood cell production.

Fr. John D’Souza SJ, Director of St. Aloysius ITI, spoke about the deeper significance of blood donation, calling it an act of social responsibility and human connection. He compared the bond formed through blood donation to the natural connection between a mother and child, reinforcing the idea that such gestures strengthen community ties.

The event was efficiently coordinated by Shreyas, the program convenor, who later proposed the vote of thanks. Vanditha, a Junior Training Officer, skillfully compered the program, ensuring its smooth flow. The blood donation camp not only served as a life-saving initiative but also inspired students to engage in humanitarian efforts, fostering a spirit of service and compassion.
